A PUBLIC DEBATE OVER THE FORTHCOMING NEW SPORTS ACT

The working group authorized with the drafting of the new Sports Act is currently at the stage, when it deems proper and necessary to discuss the proposed solutions with those whose daily life shall be most affected by the new legislation - with athletes, sports professionals, representatives of sports associations, clubs and other sports organizations, representatives of the business sector and public authorities (government, higher territorial units, municipalities).

In order to achieve this purpose, the partners of the Memorandum of Cooperation: civic association Scholarly Legal Society, the STARS & FRIENDS Foundation and the law firm SOUKENÍK - ŠTRPKA, s. r. o. in cooperation with other co-organizers such as Slovak Ice Hockey Federation, the Slovak Football Association, City of Košice, City of Žiar nad Hronom and other partners such as the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Olympic Committee, the Slovak Paralympic Committee and Respect Slovakia, s.r.o. have prepared a series of three presentation meetings to discuss the draft of the Sports Act:

• 22 April 2015 - DOUBLETREE BY HILTON HOTEL BRATISLAVA, Trnavská cesta 27/A, Bratislava,

• 29 April 2015 - KULTURPARK KOŠICE, Kukučínova 2, Košice,

• 6 May 2015 - HOTEL LUNA, Nám. Matice slovenskej 2, Žiar nad Hronom.

In the first part of the debate (in the morning) the members of the working group shall present the most important changes in the management, administration, financing and monitoring of the Slovak sport.

In the second part of the debate (in the afternoon) the members of the working group within the expert panel, the specialists of the micro teams and the consultants shall discuss the issues and comments raised by the participants of the debate.

JUDr. Miroslav Hlivák, PhD., LLM, one of the partners of the law firm and the core member of the working group, shall be one of the lecturers and debaters of the debate titled as "The new Sports Act draft or setting the balance between the relations, interests and values in sports by a new legal regulation of sports".
