On 13 April 2016 at the Government Office of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico received representatives of Slovak sports clubs and successful athletes with whom he talked about the application and fulfilment of the Sport Act in practice.
“I am glad that you perceive sport as a comprehensive phenomenon and you want to address it as such,” said the Prime Minister in his speech and thanked the sports public for the huge amount of work on the Sports Act. The Prime Minister then briefly presented the part of the Government Programme addressing the support for sport and youth; he emphasised that in addition to the state budget funds, the Slovak Government wants to find new sources of sports funding using various incentive measures to activate private funds and offering various benefits for businesses that finance sport.
The representatives of the sports community included JUDr. Miroslav Hlivák, PhD., LLM., a partner at our law firm who as a member of the expert working group participated in drafting the new Sports Act.
